Sam began his career on the client side of the table as head of regional marketing communications for Citibank in Asia. He worked closely with McCann-Erickson on the bank’s print and broadcast advertising, collateral materials, and product/service promotions, and with Albert Frank-Guenter Law on public relations and corporate identityparticularly on the research and creative initiatives that led to and implemented the change from First National City Bank of New York to Citibank/Citicorp … and Citi everything else.
Upon returning to the United States, he switched to the agency-side and Joslin/Walker Advertising Inc. (a spin-off from Omnicom and Jordan Manning Case Taylor McGrath) as Director of Strategic Developmentworking with health care, hospitality, and consumer products clients, in addition to legal, financial and professional service clients.
From the agency orientation, Sam has evolved what has become his “strategic marketing consulting” approach, first as V.P. and Senior Strategy Consultant at Kepner-Tregoe in Princeton, then as Managing Director of a Wall Street marketing consultancy. Here he worked closely with the Executive Management and Marketing professionals at literally dozens of leading financial and investment management companies, and mapped/monitored/led their major marketing programs in the U.S.
Prior to joining forces with Bartley & Dick, Sam and several former colleagues formed and built a strategic marketing consulting practice that focused on companieslarge and small/public and privatewho are at a “strategic crossroads” of one sort or another, helping them put the right face forward towards a broadening client base in an unstable and rapidly diversifying climate.
